School supplies needed

I just found out through a local message board that they are opening up a new school on the Island and will need help. I emailed the contact woman right away and said we would love to help. She wrote back and said she could use our help and that she would keep in touch. She invited us to come and say hi during the registration this weekend.

The interesting thing about this is that before we even came here, I had a vision/thought about doing arts and crafts with children here. I told Paul about it and said that was something I would like, but did not think to much more about it.

Now it seems like that thought may be unfolding in a way I never would have anticipated at the time.

Last year on Ambergris Caye over 120 children weren't able to attend school because there was literally no room. There are almost 90 students (ages 5 to 8) who have no school to attend so they are working very hard to get the school underway.

If you are reading this message and would like to help in any way it would be greatly appreciated. Just drop me a line and I will fill you in.

A trip to any dollar store could get color pencils, erasers, paper, stickers, glue, small kids books, for the price of a jumbo latte. The children that will attend this school come from families that struggle to pay rent, eat and be clothed.

Children become our future and it is so important to give them a chance to learn and grow.

Hi Debi anyone who wants to send something can contact me for address. We have no postmen here so all mail goes to post office and we just walk over and check occasionally if we have mail. Thanks to all those who started sending packages for the kids, I am about due to go see if any have arrived.
